The Company’s annual Nutcracker performances feature a cast of over 125 dancers and guest artists at the Westchester County Center, with exquisite choreography, many special effects, and lavish costumes and scenery. The Company has also presented our authentic productions of the world’s best-loved ballets, including Peter and the Wolf, Coppelia, Pas de Quatre, Aurora’s Wedding, Graduation Ball, La Boutique Fantasque, Sleeping Beauty, and Les Sylphides.
In addition to the classical repertory, Westchester Ballet Company performs contemporary pieces. On Saturday, May 13, 2000, The Westchester Ballet Company premiered The Glenn Miller Swing Nutcracker, with choreography by the award-winning Mary Jane Houdina to the music of Glenn Miller. Houdina, who won the Barrymore Award in 1998 for her choreography in Crazy for You, has danced in and choreographed eleven Broadway shows and was associate choreographer for the original Annie.
