The Westchester Ballet Company is a not-for-profit dance repertory company located in Ossining, New York. Our mission is to promote an awareness and appreciation of dance throughout the communities of Westchester County and the surrounding areas. We maintain and constantly expand our repertoire of top-flight classical and contemporary ballets for the purpose of educating and training local dancers. These young dancers’ talents are often combined with those of renowned professional guest artists for memorable performances.
As one of the oldest not-for-profit community ballet companies in the United States, WBC remains extremely proud of our inspiring and extraordinary legacy of presenting professionally produced ballets at affordable prices and developing the talents of young dancers. We are recognized as an important cultural establishment in Ossining and throughout Westchester.
Westchester Ballet Company members may join as student dancers as young as age 7 and progress by audition through the junior company and apprentice levels until they are accepted into the senior company. Adults with dance training may audition for character roles, and internationally renowned professional dancers may perform lead roles.
Training at the Company’s school, the Logrea Dance Academy, is rigorous, emphasizing the development of strength and flexibility and the cultivation of artistic expression. Dancers receive instruction in healthy nutrition and safety. Senior company members participate in the nation’s most prestigious summer training programs and festivals. Senior company dancers and advanced/intermediate-level dancers from throughout the community are eligible to participate in special master classes taught by noted professionals.
WBC also provides financial support for local youngsters who would not otherwise be able to afford dance instruction, and we offer educational outreach programs for local schools and community centers.
